Activity 3.1b Linear Measurement with US Customary Units Procedure Conclusion 1. When you look at a drawing, how do you know if you are looking at U S Customary or SI measurements? Why is it important for an engineer to know this piece of information? US customary system has fractions. Moreover SI measurements are only in power of tens while US customary system is not. Engineers need to know this information or else they will end with the wrong measurements, which leads to too little or too large designs.
