1.      When is an auxiliary view needed?

Auxiliary view is needed when the certain faces of the object isn't parallel to the principle views.

2.      What does the term foreshortened mean?

It means due to perspective the object is seen with decrease in length.

3.      Why would it be inappropriate to dimension to a feature on a surface that is not perpendicular to the line of sight?

The object will appear to be distorted and not sufficient information is given in order the construction of the model to take place.
